A date for your diary. Manchester’s biggest student shopping event is here for one night only on Tuesday 27 September with a massive selection of high, street, designer and independent city centre stores coming together to offer students up to 50% off.

MCR Student Night Out is not just discounts, but a whole evening of entertainment from 4pm till 9pm, including live bands, free running displays, DJs and street food.

There are some amazing offers right at the heart of the city. A range of retailers in The Manchester Arndale will be offering up to 30% off including The Body Shop, Levi’s and Gap. Clas Ohlson will be offering students 20% off their Swedish-inspired homeware (great for kitting out those student digs) whilst Paperchase will be giving students 20% off too. It’s time to stock up on stationery!

For those who fancy an evening of pampering as well as shopping, head over to Selfridges Exchange Square with not just 20% discount on selected brands but a transformed store with live DJs, sweet treats, drinks and a number of experiences lined up. Other department stores with offers for the evening include Harvey Nichols and House of Fraser.

If these hot offers are not enough to make you dance, then surely the even hotter entertainment will. Are you ready for an exclusive city centre student party? DJ Faith and DJ Tim Wright will take to the decks in the Manchester Arndale, whilst Market Street will come alive with tunes from Capital FM’s James Hall.

Here you will also find some funky anthems thanks to Matt & Phred’s Back Chat Brass Roaming Gig, and the chance to see Black Dog’s Ballroom’s Bowling Alley and Evolve Free Runners in action. Enjoy the entertainment unfolding around you plus the MCR Fresher’s Fair with games, giveaways and prizes.

Students can enjoy even more offers on food and drink venues to treat themselves. The Arndale’s Food Court venues are pushing back their prices and you can enjoy favourites for less in other venues including Pizza Hut, Barburitto, Fuel Juice Bar and Starbucks.

It doesn’t stop there because if you are looking for a sit-down meal, the stylish restaurants inside the Corn Exchange are rolling out some great deals for students too.  Ready to whet your appetite is Wahaca, a chilled-out Mexican eatery giving students a Margarita on the house when you buy any food after 4pm.

At Cosy Club it’s 25% off your food bill when you show your student card from 9am – 11pm. That means you can feast away on stylish comfort food, with favourites such as buttermilk fried chicken, handcrafted burgers, their very own (and extremely generous) club sandwiches and a surprisingly big vegan menu too.

If you fancy a little bit of something different, Pho who are offering 15% of their authentic Vietnamese cuisine. This is freshly prepared, feel-good food packed with herbs and spices, and their signature dish – pho  – is a brimming broth known to be great hangover cure. You may need one after sampling one of the cocktails from here. The Phojitos are lovingly lethal.

The Corn Exchange’s big Brazilian barbeque Cabana is also getting you in the party mood with 2-4-1 cocktails all night when you show your student card. Plus you can break up the alcohol with their awesome food deal – free signature chicken wings when you purchase any main. Mowgli are offering a full Indian feast in the form of two curry tiffins, a rice tiffin and a beer for a tenner, and there are also offers on at the popular Italian eateries Pizza Express and Zizzi.

Finally, you can pick the deal which suits you best at Tampopo, Manchester’s colourful Pan-Asian kitchen. Students can opt for either 50% off drinks, or 20% off the total bill for a chance to try some great food for a fraction of the price.

Keep an eye on the Corn Exchange website for more offers and competitions with the chance to try some of the food in the stylish restaurants here, for free, as part of MCR Student Night Out.
