This Manchester woman has turned her passion for baking into a thriving online business

Local woman Emily Aronson has turned her passion for baking into a thriving online business, after using the impact of the coronavirus pandemic as inspiration to embark on a new venture.

After investing thousands of pounds into a game hire business with her husband only a year ago, Emily, who is from Whitefield, had to put all activity on hold due to prohibitive government restrictions and a lack of financial support within the events industry.

Facing growing uncertainty and seeing the growing popularity of small food delivery businesses during the pandemic, she decided to take a leap of faith and utilise her baking and creative skills to turn what was a hobby into a new full-time profession.

So she launched Treats & Eats, a chocolate confectionery enterprise that creates a variety of bespoke and personalised treats specialising in everything from cookie dough and fudge, to trendy cakesicles and chocolate dipped strawberries – all suitable for vegetarians.

Despite only launching in September, Treats & Eats has seen word has spread across social media about Emily’s hand-crafted chocolate designs, even reaching celebrities – one who has ordered some bespoke Halloween chocolate treats, says Emily.

All of Emily’s products are beautifully boxed and available for delivery within the Greater Manchester area, while certain items such as cookie cups, cookie dough, fudge, truffles, cakesicles and dipped Oreos are available for postal orders anywhere in the UK.

Gathering over 800 followers on Instagram in just over a month, Emily plans to launch a website soon to help with the increased demand and create a more streamlined online ordering process.

She also hopes to be ready to expand the business further as and when large-scale events such as weddings are given the green light to resume safely.

“I have been truly blown away by the response and support I’ve received since launching Treats & Eats,” says Emily.

“I’ve always baked and made sweet treats for friends and family as a hobby but had never contemplated turning it into a profession before.

“The impact of the pandemic has forced everyone to adapt and after receiving such amazing feedback from customers, I’m hugely excited to keep going and see how far the business can grow.”
