The Lowry Outlet is being rebranded as Quayside MediaCityUK and will soon be home to a range of new bars and restaurants and a host of immersive attractions.

ITV’s brand new I’m A Celebrity Jungle Challenge attraction will be moving in this autumn alongside a variety of restaurants, bars and coffee shops on new waterside terrace the Watergardens.

The multi-million pound jungle challenge attraction, housed in a huge 2,500 square metre indoor entertainment complex, will see “campmates” taken into the heart of the “jungle” for the ultimate I’m A Celebrity experience.

Featuring the iconic Base Camp, Croc Creek and Snake Rock, adventure-seekers can expect to battle through jungle ziplines, parachute drops and vertical climbing walls in their quest to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.

Attached to it will be a new bespoke leisure restaurant called The Treehouse, which we hope will add to the whole I’m A Celebrity experience.

Right now we’re thinking bushtucker challenge style dishes, but in all honesty, it’ll probably be more burgers and chips than insects and creepy crawlies.

Further additions include a Virgin Active health club and state of the art all recliner Vue Cinema, which has already seen bosses install the luxury leather recliners in all seven cinema screens.

A new waterside terrace called The Watergardens will boast a range of restaurants, each with beautiful views across the Quays.

And developers will also install a new two-storey glasshouse as part of the outlet’s overhaul. This will offer 270-degree waterside views from a combination of new restaurants and bars.

The rebrand is part of a £26 million development by owners Lifestyle Outlets, part of Peel L&P.

Work on the waterfront leisure and dining destination is already well underway, with the recliner cinema already completed.

It’s hoped that the complex’s close proximity to the Lowry Theatre will see more visitors drawn to the area, with bosses confident it will offer “much more than a traditional outlet.”

“We are hugely proud of our connection with the Lowry Theatre, which will always be part of our identity,” said Jason Pullen, managing director of Lifestyle Outlet

“While Outlet shopping is at the heart of what we do, Quayside MediaCityUK offers much more. […] with an enhanced leisure offering, great events and entertainment, world-class museums and theatres as neighbours.”

“We are hugely proud of our connection with the Lowry theatre, which will always be part of our identity. The name Quayside MediaCityUK has been chosen to reflect our unique location as the retail and leisure heart of MediaCityUK, as well as celebrating our Salford Quays and dockside heritage.

“Quayside MediaCityUK is much more representative of the vibrant, waterfront location we are becoming and with ITV and The Watergardens opening this year, 2020 is due to be our most exciting year yet.”
