Each year, 52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, with a staggering 2,400 new cases of testicular cancer also being diagnosed each year. This makes it all the more important for us to check ourselves and speak up about the signs and symptoms of cancer.
In collaboration with their-house health and wellbeing partner, AssureHealth, on Tuesday 29th November Re:Treat Spa at The Lowry will be providing free testicle ultrasound scans and advice on prostate cancer to help break the stigma surrounding men’s health checks.
This will all be aid of men’s health charity, Movember, who are working to smash the stigma surrounding getting check ups for prostate and testicular cancer.
A spokesperson for the spa said: “We are inviting all men who have any concerns about any lumps, pain, heaviness – or simply looking for an expert opinion in the old Twig & Berry department, to book a complimentary slot between 8am – 8pm on 29th November, for a quick, private and confidential ultrasound session.”
All ultrasound sessions are quick, private, confidential, and non-invasive, and are carried out by a medical professional – all in the tranquil environment of RE:TREAT at The Lowry Hotel.
At the end of each appointment, a medical report will be given to each client, which can be taken to a GP for a follow up if required.

Roy Craven, CEO & Consultant Radiographer at AssureHealth said: “With cases of prostate and testicular cancer increasing significantly each year, it’s incredibly important to highlight not only how easy it is to get checked, but how important it is.
“Regular checks should never be put off, especially if there are any initial concerns or changes – getting to know your body and having a regular feel of your berry’s could be a lifesaving decision.
“The reality of getting any issues checked can be daunting, however by offering free scans at RE:TREAT at The Lowry Hotel, we hope to help put minds at ease and raise awareness of an important cause.”
