Work has started on the the first ever Mansion House apartments to be constructed in Manchester.
The new apartments overlook New Islington Marina in Ancoats and, as with all House by Urban Splash homes, have been created offsite using modern methods of construction.
Mansion House is an apartment block created using modern methods of construction, offering customers multiple layout options. Each medium-rise Mansion House apartment building will comprise ten apartments which encourage social living, with shared communal spaces such as lobbies, stairwells and landings.
In contrast to the usual way of creating apartments using steel and concrete, these homes are being created in a sustainable way; the primary material is cross-laminated timber which will give homes a unique look, with the exposed CLT forming the main structure as well as internal walls and ceilings.
The result is long-term sustainability for residents who will benefit from a highly rated insulation performance which will retain heat in winter and maintain a cooler temperature in the summer.
The apartments are designed by architect shedkm and boast dual-aspect views, including spectacular vistas over the Marina and New Islington’s Cotton Field Park, all of which can be enjoyed from each home’s 2m x 2.4m windows and generous 8sq m balcony.
They will be assembled with the help of Bolton-based construction partner Artez, with the first building close to the New Islington free school and the award-winning Pollen Bakery.
There are nine flexible apartment options on offer.
“Each of our House by Urban Splash products has arrived in Manchester first – each being well received,” said Urban Splash residential director Guy Ackernley.
“Our first Town House homes sold out and completed within a year, and now these dual-aspect Mansion House apartments are on sale receiving a similar reception. We look forward to seeing them come to fruition and welcoming future residents early in 2021.”
House by Urban Splash is also currently marketing for sale the latest Town House homes at New Islington, with modular properties at Piercy St on the eastern side of the neighbourhood also now on sale.
