A new independent coffee shop is coming to Bury this weekend, opening in The Rock shopping centre and creating 35 new jobs.

Coffee and food chain Bob & Berts has transformed an empty 3,500 sq ft unit into a new family-friendly coffee shop, with a cosy interior and al fresco dining space for customers to enjoy.

Open from 8am – 9pm, seven days a week, guests can expect an all-day breakfast menu with favourites including ‘Bob’s Famous Fry’ and ‘Bert’s English Breakfast Muffin’, as well as a range of pancake stacks and waffle dishes.

Light bites and lunch dishes will be served alongside a range of vegetarian and vegan dishes such as the ‘Vegan Breakfast Burrito’ and a gluten-free menu which includes the brunch favourite ‘Eggs Benny’.

Bob & Berts serves its own artisan coffee that’s hand-roasted in Northern Ireland using 100% arabica beans, as well as a range of milkshakes, frappes and smoothies.

And to celebrate the official opening, the store will be giving away free breakfast to the first 10 customers and free coffee to the first 100 customers through its doors on Friday 29th April.

Founded in Portstewart in Northern Ireland in 2013 by Colin McClean and David Ferguson, Bob & Berts is known for its community-focused approach.

“We’ve made a significant investment in transforming the Bury site to create a location that’s completely unique in the town and will offer customers an extensive range of great grub and proper coffee served all day long in our relaxed surroundings,” said Colin McClean, founder of Bob & Berts.

“We carefully select each of our locations where we see a genuine opportunity to meet the needs of the community by providing a store that offers quality, affordable food and drink, and demonstrates a commitment to supporting the future of the local high street.”

Following a £2 million investment in 2017, the business has grown to 25 sites across the UK, and in the last 12 months opened its first three sites in the North West in Lancaster, Kendal and Preston.

“We’re really pleased with the new store, which is our fourth opening in England in the last 12 months,” said David Ferguson, co-owner.

“The initial feedback from passers-by and the local community on social media has been really positive, and we’re very much looking forward to opening our doors to the public this week and giving them a taste of what Bob & Berts has to offer.”

Bob & Berts will open in The Rock shopping centre on Friday 29th April 2022, and will be open daily from 8am – 9pm. They’ll be giving away free breakfast to the first 10 customers and free coffee to the first 100 customers through the doors on Friday 29th April.
