It’s widely known that those of us from the North love our gooey, gravy-topped chips, while mayo takes the condiment crown in the South.

But now, a new launch from Hellmann’s is hoping to unite us over the divide on chippy traditions by combining the two.

“With Hellmann’s new Gravy Mayo, Brits won’t have to choose,” say Hellmann’s.

“Whether it’s a generous squeeze over chip shop chips, a Sunday roast sarnie, or giving your fried chicken a delightful dollop – Hellmann’s Gravy Mayo gives you the best of both.”

With an estimated 15.4 million Brits tucking into gravy every year, Hellmann’s says its new Gravy Mayo “combines the richness of homemade gravy with Hellmann’s famous creamy taste, providing the perfect pairing for a variety of dishes.”

Hellmann’s Gravy Mayonnaise, the first of its kind for the brand, is part of a new trio of flavours launching this Spring that “unifies Britain’s love for chicken dishes.”

Inspired by the surge of ‘fakeaway cooking’ during the pandemic, the range features three new flavours – Coronation, Chilli Charger and Gravy, “each providing a unique taste for Spring/Summer occasions” whether it’s a Jubilee picnic, feel-good Friday night in or family BBQ.

Synonymous with summertime and inspired by the famous British flavour of Coronation chicken – originally created for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 – Hellmann’s Coronation Mayo offers a modern squeeze on this traditional recipe.

“Paying homage to the Jubilee, the flavour will be ready just in time to deliver a delectable pairing for buffet celebrations, a perfect spread for summer sarnies and dip for picnics with friends and family,” say Hellmann’s.

Finally, for a sauce with spice, Hellmann’s Chilli Charger Mayo, is hoping to bring a fiery kick to mealtimes.

“Perfect for dipping your chicken or squeezing onto burgers, this fierce new flavour is a must have for summer BBQs and beyond,” they say.

“We know just how much Brits love a takeaway and with the fakeaway style of cooking booming during lockdown, we wanted to provide the nation with restaurant-inspired flavours they could enjoy at home,” says Rachel Chambers, marketing manager at Hellmann’s.

We’re incredibly excited to announce our market-first Gravy Mayo and hope all three, delicious new flavours will bring a bold new twist to dishes served at Jubilee parties and BBQs nationwide this summer.”

Hellmann’s Gravy, Coronation and Chilli Charger Mayonnaises will be available nationwide in April, at an RRP of £2.55, in squeezy 100% recycled and recyclable plastic 250ml bottles.
