First Street’s huge 20sqm outdoor screen is returning to Tony Wilson Place this summer as the estate gears up for Wimbledon 2019.

The free screen with be showing every championship match throughout the tournament, which runs this year from 1st-14th July.

When the tennis tournament kicks off, Tony Wilson Place will once again be transformed into a hub for tennis lovers with deck chairs, pop-ups, live music and larger-than-life garden games like table tennis and giant Connect 4.

There’ll be food and drink to enjoy from the estate’s various retailers, alongside sporadic appearances from Ginger’s ice cream emporium, who will be taking their pastel-coloured ice cream van down to First Street whenever the sun pops his head out.

Sophie Stephenson from CBRE, who manages the estate on behalf of First Street Management Company, said: “We’re looking forward to kicking off the summer season with Wimbledon again, following a great success last year.

“We like First Street to be as inclusive a space as possible, and we love putting Wimbledon on each year as we feel it works for families, our occupiers, local residents and crowds of all ages – it’s always a great atmosphere and caters to everyone.”

Once the tennis tournament is over, the screen will stay put to show other events including Glastonbury, Tour de France, F1 British Grand Prix and Cricket World Cup highlights.
