Women’s World Cup Watch Party

20 August 2023 @ 10:00 - 14:00

Watch history unfold at the National Football Museum as the Lionesses take on Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final.

Can Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses win the ultimate international competition, or will the reigning European champions be thwarted by dark horses Spain? Find out from 10am via the museum’s Pitch Gallery screen.

Before the action gets underway, we have a series of activities to get visitors warmed up for the big game. See Alison Palmer’s photographic exhibition, Our Time is Now, charting the growth of the game at all levels in the aftermath of the Lionesses’ WEURO triumph.

The English Subbuteo Association make a welcome return, hosting a special flick-to-kick masterclass in the space. The experts will be showing our visitors how to play the classic tabletop game, using the special edition Lionesses Subbuteo set.

Feeling confident about the game? You could even make yourself a Women’s World Cup winner’s medal in our latest craft activity. Come up with your own unique engravings and etch them onto our golden card medallions, pick a coloured ribbon of your choice and decorate your presentation box ahead of the closing ceremony!

This ticket also entitles you to a free post-match peek at our main galleries, exploring the history of the women’s game through new displays and objects.

Places are free but must be booked in advance online (max 6 per booking). Doors open from 10am and close at 11:15am. Seating is limited: we recommend arriving early to get the best view!

Please note that other than the Pitch Gallery, the museum galleries will be closed until 2pm.
