As music enthusiasts from around the world descend upon UK and the Northwest, Mancunians will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Eurovision spirit, with giant screens broadcasting the live action right in the heart of the city center.

While Liverpool has the esteemed honor of hosting Eurovision on behalf of last year’s victors, Ukraine, Manchester residents and visitors alike can revel in their own slice of Eurovision magic.

With big screens erected in Piccadilly Gardens, locals will have front-row seats to witness the spectacular performances, cheering on their favorite acts in unison.

The Manchester fan-zone promises an electrifying experience for fans, offering live BBC coverage of both the semi-finals on Tuesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 11, followed by the grand finale on Saturday, May 13.

The atmosphere is expected to be nothing short of a euphoric party, with singing, dancing, and an overwhelming sense of camaraderie.

The fan-zone will open each day at 5:30 pm in preparation for the live BBC coverage starting at 8 pm, culminating at 11 pm.

However, on the day of the finals, festivities commence earlier, with access to the raised platform part of the fan-zone available from 12 noon. From 4:00 pm until 1:00 am on Sunday morning, attendees will have full access to the entire fan-zone, including the grassed area, ensuring an unforgettable Eurovision experience.

To enhance the festivities, a variety of food and drink stalls will be on hand, serving up delectable Eurovision-themed treats and delightful tipples.

For those wanting to savor their own culinary delights, the public is welcome to bring their own food and soft drinks (glass bottles are not permitted). However, please note that bringing alcohol from outside will not be allowed.

As a precautionary measure, bag searches will be conducted upon entry, and attendees are kindly requested to limit the size of their bags to that of a small rucksack.

In true Eurovision spirit, face painting will be available for both young and young-at-heart fans, ensuring that everyone can unleash their inner Eurovision star.

Flag waving will undoubtedly be obligatory, adding an extra dash of colorful flair to the event.

The celebration will be amplified by talented DJs, including the fabulous drag queen DJ Misty, who will grace the stage, igniting the party atmosphere before the highly anticipated grand final on Saturday.

Admission to the fan-zone is free of charge; however, space is limited, and entry will operate on a first-come-first-served basis.

To cater to attendees’ needs, toilet facilities and first aid services will be readily available on-site, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment, and Leisure at Manchester City Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We owe it to all our Ukrainian friends wherever they are in the world to make this year’s Eurovision the very best it can possibly be.

“So if you’re still making your mind up about where to watch Eurovision this year, think no more!

“Come and join us at the fan-zone in Piccadilly Gardens for a Mancunian Eurovision party like no other! Bring a flag, bring your friends, and bring it on for Ukraine – Eurovision 2023 is going to be spectacular!”
