This new restaurant is is the latest venture from the team behind Manchester’s popular venues, Ramona, Diecast, and The Firehouse.

The inspiration for this new concept comes from the team’s love for Detroit, a city often considered Manchester’s twin in terms of its rich working-class culture and vibrant music scene. Detroit, much like Manchester, also boasts a distinctive style of pizza, which Detroit Slims aims to deliver with a modern twist.

What’s on the Menu at Detroit Slims?

The menu will feature individually sized pizzas, baked fresh to order with toppings such as the Cheese Burger Slim, BBQ Meat Feast, and Shroom Slim.

The standout item on the menu is The Pepperoni Crown, set atop Detroit Slims’ signature light and fluffy base, made from 48-hour, slow-fermented focaccia dough.

In addition to their pizzas, they will offer a variety of house-made dips like Kimchi Mayo, Hot Honey, and Dill + Jalapeño Ranch, along with sides such as chicken tenders tossed in homemade Cajun pepper and crispy scooper fries.

And for dessert?

For dessert, guests can indulge in thick “Slim Shaky” milkshakes in flavours like Banoffee Pie and Detroit’s iconic ‘Bumpy Cake,’ as well as other treats including ice cream sandwiches, cookie trays, and soft-serve ice creams.

To celebrate its opening, the team will be giving away 10,000 free pizzas to the first people who sign up for their newsletter.

Dan Mullen, Director, expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re so excited to finally introduce the Slims brand to our home city of Manchester, and eventually bring Detroit-style pizza to everyone UK-wide!”

Executive Chef Will Taplin

Executive Chef Will Taplin added, “All Detroit Slims pizzas will be completely homemade, made up of proper ingredients—making for high-quality fast food that will leave you feeling good. There is nothing like Detroit Slims in the UK, and we’re ready to introduce ourselves with some proper American hospitality.”

The new eatery, which spans 1,800 square feet, will create over 25 jobs in Manchester. Located just a three-minute walk from Oxford Road Station within the Circle Square neighbourhood, Detroit Slims will offer a 30-cover restaurant space for dining in, as well as takeaway and delivery options through Deliveroo.

Circle Square, a landmark development from Bruntwood SciTech and Vita Group, is situated in the heart of Manchester’s Oxford Road Corridor.

The area is known for its dynamic mix of retailers, and Detroit Slims will join the likes of Onda Pasta Bar, North Tap Room, and Federal Cafe Bar.

Matt Pazos, Retail Commercial Manager for Bruntwood SciTech, commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Detroit Slims, whose team have already been so successful in the city. This will be a great new offering for the Oxford Road Corridor knowledge quarter.”

Looking ahead, the Detroit Slims team plans to open another location in Greater Manchester by the end of the year.
