But don’t take our word for it, we’ve interviewed two couples who proposed at Cloud 23 this year.

Cloud 23 is tucked away in Beetham Tower as part of the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel.

It is renowned across the city for its breathtaking views of Manchester and beyond, its amazing food and its boujee cocktails too.

With views so good, it’s no surprise that it has become a hotspot for proposals and could well stake a claim to be one of the best spots to do it in the city.

We spoke to two couples who had popped the question up on Cloud 23, asking them what made them pick it as the perfect spot.

Lawrence, who proposed to his now-wife Assumpta on the 23rd of January, explained why he chose Cloud 23.

Lawrence and Assumpta

Speaking to I Love Manchester, he said:

“I had a few ideas in my head about where I wanted to propose to my partner, it needed to have an amazing view, and be a really beautiful spot.

“I did some research about nice places in Manchester that could fit the bill but the view from Cloud 23 blew me away from when I first saw it.

“It was between the Cathedral and Cloud 23, but I know I made the best choice.

“If you haven’t been up there, you should go and you will see exactly what I mean.”

Lawrence was quick to praise the staff at the Hilton, who helped him to make sure everything was just right and to even record it on video.

He continued: “The staff were really friendly and helpful.

“I told them of my plans and they helped me out with flowers and making sure I got the big moment on film.

“They gave me a congratulatory cake and seemed genuinely thrilled for us both.

“We had a few drinks after, some champagne to celebrate of course and just relaxed, thrilled to bits admiring the view.”

“I would 100% recommend it. The view, the staff, and the drinks were great too. The pictures don’t do it justice. I’m so happy with how it all went, I wouldn’t do it anywhere else in the City.

We also spoke to Gary Clarke, who proposed to his partner on Valentine’s Day up on Cloud 23.

Gary, who lives in the city said he picked the spot because of the incredible view over Manchester.

Speaking to I Love Manchester, Gary said:

“I can’t speak highly enough of the experience I had with the team at Cloud 23.

“The first thing that appealed to me about the venue was the amazing view, it is unparalleled in Manchester.

“My partner is from Glasgow, but I’m from Manchester, so it was good to reflect on our time in the city by looking out across the view and reminiscing about fun times we’d had in this place or that place.

“I booked the table online,  and they have a place where you can write if you have any special requests.

“I told them I was planning to propose, and the staff got in touch straight away and asked me how I wanted to do it and if I had anything unique in mind.”

The big moment!

Gary said he was amazed by the help from the Hilton Staff, who went out of their way to make sure it was the perfect experience for the couple.

He said they helped him plan the perfect moment to ask his partner to marry him.

He continued: “I was really surprised, they were so accommodating.

“They did everything possible they could do to help. I had a chat with a lady on the phone and told her about my plans for the evening, and they offered to help straight away with videos and pictures.”

And luckily for Gary, they had a beautiful clear night with lights twinkling all over the city to add a sense of magic to the big occasion.

The pair enjoyed the Valentine’s Day five-course taster menu, which has been curated by head chef Dave Ashton.

“The food was out of this world. I can’t speak highly enough of it. The attention to detail of the chefs, and their explanations of the dishes were superb.

“Everyone appeared knowledgeable about the dishes and appropriate wine pairings, so you’re in safe hands.

“Strangely enough, while we were eating my partner said – if we get married – I want us to have this dessert at the wedding!”

And despite a minor hiccup where Gary left the ring in his coat pocket, which was secretively returned to him by a member of staff, everything went to plan and the pair are now set to enjoy their engagement.

Gary concluded: “It’s been a great experience, I’d recommend it to anyone. We had a beautiful table, and great views and the staff were amazing.

“All around it was a 10/10 experience”
