Browns Brasserie & Bar Manchester has reopened its doors following a luxurious £700k refurbishment – and it’s a beauty.

The much-loved restaurant on York Street is housed in an awe-inspiring Edwardian baroque building and former banking hall that was once the ‘Athenaeum’, one of the city’s most notorious watering holes.

The imposing high ceilings, original marble, wood panelling and exquisite art nouveau details have long made Browns a top city centre choice for drinks and dining.

And now, the new refurbed interiors match the opulence of the building, taking inspiration from the 1920s with art deco styling, luxurious furnishings and opulent finishes.

It feels lighter and brighter, the natural sunlight cascading through the huge windows onto the elegant marble columns, antique brass, mosaic flooring and warm rust seating around the brand new bar, which has been completely redone with stunning wood panelling.

The refurbished brasserie provides a simply stunning backdrop to enjoy the new seasonal British menu, as well as an extensive cocktail list and fine selection of wine and Champagne.

Sarah Jones, General Manager Browns Manchester

Open all day from breakfast through to dinner, visitors to Browns Manchester will be able to feast on classic British dishes and fresh seasonal creations.

There’s fresh market fish delivered daily, fresh lobster, sharing Chateaubriand and fillet steak surf & turf from Thursday to Saturday, as well as traditional roasts on Sundays.

There is also plenty for vegetarians and vegans to enjoy – and a delicious Gluten Free menu that’s accredited by Coeliac UK.

And don’t forget the traditional afternoon tea – and a decadent Champagne bottomless brunch.

When it comes to drinks, guests can take advantage of the magnificent new bar, serving hand-crafted cocktails, wines and fizz.

And for special occasions and events, Browns has several bookable spaces, including a gorgeous new private dining room for up to 12 guests, and a range of menus ideal for everything from celebrations to corporate events.

To top it all off, Browns will also be hosting weekly live piano performances every Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtime.

“The level of transformation we’ve had is amazing,” said Kieran Robinson, Browns Manchester.

“We’re all incredibly proud of our new brasserie, and can’t wait to show it off to our guests, both old and new!”
