We were invited to Hula Tiki Lounge located on Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter this weekend to try signature cocktails – what were we gonna say, no!?
So after getting a pineapple shape stamped on our hands, we headed straight for the bar…
The drinks are a fun twist of cocktail experiment that only get slid towards you when they’re colourful and decorated. I remember the names of two cocktails for sure; the Flaming Zombie and Hand Grenade. Why? Because they blew my head off! Together with a delicious after taste; soon made me want to move my hips.
The bar is cladded out with bamboo and straw which adds to the whole beach hut bar feel to the place. It’s a happy jumpy place but with a laid back vibe. The seats are very low and all accompanied by small, low, round tables that are suitable for dancing and moving around (on) with no nasty shin bruises.
Hula or Tikki Bar or “that Flaming Zombie place in the Northern Quarter” is real good fun. It gives you that holiday nightlife feeling. Manchester can’t always bring you the holiday sun, however what Hula brought us was enough. Great music, cool clientele and fitting music.
We’ll be going back to this place the next time we’re fed up of Manchester rain during the day – we can sit back in Hula and imagine I’m in Hawaii. I can imagine it’s a nice unwind spot for after a hard day at the office too.
