Their burgers are almost famous and their Twitter feed (@AlmostFamousMCR) is officially famous (more famous than @ilovemcr) for being slightly outrageous, but they don’t lie, their burgers are bitchin’.

“FIRST COME, FIRST DISAPPOINTED, IT’S JUST A BURGER JOINT – DON’T OVER-HYPE IT.”

While things get tidied up at the original Northern Quarter residence that burned down earlier this year, the infamous burger joint have moved to a new site in Great Northern, where Relish used to be (next door to All Star Lanes).

“ALMOST FAMOUS IS BACK. BURGERS BOOZE LOVELY PEOPLE AND A HANGOVER THAT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO CRAWL INTO A SMALL GAP UNDER THE FLOOR AND DIE.”

You already know about the burgers, so we’ll have a bang about the much neater location.

Crazy genius owners of the venture Beau and Jon may try perceive a lazy approach but be assured they know exactly what they’re doing.

Gorilla marketing, gorilla interior and a massive gorilla. The wall art is like a Gorillas music video come Disney Land on acid. It’s a King Kong jungle wonderland, full of surprises.

The staff have pure attitude. Like, almost too cool to be pleasant to you. Are they instrcuted to be so rude? I’m not sure but they hardly have much else to do than customer service – you order your food at the bar.

There’s subtle references to their other establishments throughout the decor. A mix match of the early Socio Rehab (the baby lovechild), Home Sweet Home, Luck Lust Liquor & Burn and Keko Moku. Keeping it in the family.

The menus may look exactly the same but there are a couple of additions and it’s ALL about bacon. It’s more American than America.

We LOVE: the River Pheonix burger: double cheeseburger, bacon BBQ fried onions, frazzles baconaisse, chipotle ketchup, BBQ sass and fresh chilli.

“WHO KNOWS WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS, BUT IT’LL BE YUMMY AND PROBABLY COME WITH A SHOT OF JACK, EXTRA BACON AND SAUCE.”

The new Almost Famous site is ‘that’ Great, a girl stood on the King Kong statue and got her bongo’s out on launch night.

What else do you wanna know? When will all this burger/Americana trend end?

I think this place will be hammered for some time yet.
