Today marks International Beer Day, so why not celebrate at Albert Schloss?

Starting from the first week of August, the bier palace will showcase a different ‘Bier of the Week’ each week, including the launch of Munich’s finest Hofbräu Lager, which was recently introduced to the UK.

And ‘Albert’s Top Six For Summer’ includes a star-studded lineup of: Hofbräu Lager, Pilsner Urquell, Erdinger Weissbrau, Stiegl Goldbrau, Fruli and Paulaner Munich.

To sweeten the deal, pints of Hofbräu Lager and Pilsner Urquell are just five pounds during Albert’s Schloss apres work hours, Monday – Friday, 4-7pm.

And they are all poured by the bar’s talented tapsters, who train at Pilsner in Germany to pull that perfect pint.

The Bavarian-inspired beer house, Albert Schloss, situated under the Bavarian blue and white awnings in the former Salford Wesleyan Mission Building on Peters Street, is one hell of a venue.

Think a massive, well-stocked bar, roaring fires, beautifully ornate ceilings, stained glass windows and a stage lit up with music nearly every night of the week.

So get ready to experience the ultimate bier celebration at Albert’s Schloss, where the taps will be flowing with a fantastic selection of brews from all four corners of the globe.

Cosy settings

Tankovnas: Where Freshness is King

Albert Schloss takes inspiration from the Czech Republic, where tankovnas have become the epitome of delivering unparalleled freshness in every pour.

To maintain the highest standards of flavour and freshness, the beer is stored in copper tanks directly within the bars.

Unlike processed beer that can last for months or even years, tank beer must be consumed within 7-10 days to preserve its freshness.

Albert’s Schloss: A Commitment to Authenticity

At Albert’s Schloss, the commitment to freshness and authenticity is no different.

Adhering to the Bohemian standards of flavour, their journey to deliver the perfect pint of Pilsner Urquell begins with a 1,500-mile weekly beer run to the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzeň, located just outside Prague.

The brewery-fresh, unpasteurised Pilsner is then lovingly stored in their four 900-pint copper tanks that dominate the main bar area, ready to quench the thirst of Manchester.

At Albert’s Schloss, they take pride in delivering our Pilsner to the highest Czech standard, and the journey to a perfect pint doesn’t end there – the art of the pour is equally essential.

The foam or ‘head’ of the beer plays a critical role in the Czech tankovna experience, and we follow their footsteps by offering three distinct foam options, each contributing to a unique and delightful beer-drinking experience.

1. Na Dvakrát, or ‘Crisp’: Similar to a British pint but with a more generous ‘crown,’ Na Dvakrát offers a minimum of 3cm of foam on top of the pint, preserving the beer’s flavour and aroma. The maximum carbonation keeps the beer refreshingly crisp and delightful.

2. Hladinka, or ‘Smooth’: For those seeking a creamier pint, Hladinka is the way to go. Over a third of the pint is filled with creamy foam, and reduced carbonation results in a smoother, silkier texture, perfect for a leisurely sip.

3. Milko, or ‘Milk’: A beloved Czech tradition, Milko might be an acquired taste for Brits, but it’s adored by the Czechs. This foam-heavy option fills the glass with 90% foam, leaving a small amount of beer at the bottom.

Traditionally enjoyed at the end of a meal to aid digestion, Milko offers a unique and delightful way to savour the flavours of the beer.
