Cycle September is a global bike challenge coming to Manchester this September.
Love to Ride is working in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester, and the Cycle September event is free for businesses, organisations and all people who live or work in Greater Manchester.
Everyone can take part, whether you’re a keen cyclist or haven’t ridden a bike in years – or even ever.
People can bike anywhere any time throughout the month to take part – it’s not about how fit you are or how far you ride. Even a 10-minute ride around the park counts.
As more and more people return to the office, it’s a great time to promote active travel and help people to commute by bike.
Businesses are asked to encourage their workplace to take part in Cycle September and bring the team together to work on a common goal.
It doesn’t matter if they’re in the office, working from home, working full time or part-time, it’s an opportunity to work together to achieve health, wellness and sustainability goals.
Benefits, say Love to Ride, include happier and healthier staff with increased productivity and fewer sick days, as well as increasing physical activity, improving wellbeing, and connecting with friends and colleagues.
It also encourages businesses and local residents to contribute to lower carbon emissions, improved air quality, less noise pollution, and helps ease congestion.
There are prizes to be won and leaderboards that are split by size and industry – so even if your team is small, you can still aim for the top spot.
And people registering before 11:59pm on 31 August will be entered into their early-bird registration prize draw for one of three £100 local bike shop gift cards.
People from all over the world are taking part in the free global challenge, which runs from 1st – 30th September 2021 – so get your friends, family and co-workers enjoying all the benefits of riding a bike.
