New canalside pop-up wine bar coming to garden neighbourhood Kampus

Following the huge successes of Isca Wines and the Common & Co residency, Summer Beer Thing, Kampus has announced wine specialist Le Social as the next independent operator to take residency in the Bungalow.

Known for its unique selection of natural and organic wines, Le Social will also stock a range of beers, cocktails and aperitifs inspired by long summer evenings on the continent, served canalside, in the heart of the new city centre £250m garden neighbourhood.

Le Social was founded by wine professional Jérôme Boullier during lockdown.

Jérôme provided a door-to-door wine delivery service with all profits given to charity – and the business grew rapidly into a specialist retailer and wholesaler of organic and natural wines, working closely with the likes of General Store, Common & Co, Butcher’s Quarter and Feel Good Club to name a few. 

The team has also developed an exciting soft drink selection in collaboration with Copenhagen’s MURI Drinks.

“We really want to create an inclusive, warm and friendly neighbourhood bar for everyone to enjoy, with that holiday feeling that we’re all craving,” said Jérôme.

“We are looking forward to bringing our relaxed offering to the Kampus community and the city centre.”

The opening night on 5th August will see the debut of Manchester collective CHIC, serving disco, funk and house tunes all evening. 

The following Friday night, Burma-inspired Rice Over Everything will take over the kitchen for a night of street food and wine, followed by a weekend of celebrations for Le Social’s first anniversary party in collaboration with Didsbury’s neighbourhood bar KIOSK. 

Jérôme will also be curating a series of wine and food events during the Le Social residency, to be announced soon, including a boozy brunch with Kampus residents Bread Flower.

Kampus, is a vibrant new neighbourhood built around a garden developed by CAPITAL&CENTRIC and HBD, in the heart of Manchester city centre.

Its collection of old and new buildings, many of which lay derelict for years before redevelopment began, create a melting pot of architectural styles and a rich cultural heritage right next to the famous Canal Street in Manchester’s Gay Village, just minutes from Piccadilly Station.

The Kampus gardens and Bungalow are the central feature of the community and are permanently open to the public, with the Bungalow operating as a village hall for pop-up events and community groups. 

The neighbourhood is alive with events and home grown, independent bars, restaurants, cafés and retail from brands including General Store, Common &. Co/ Cornerstone and Bread Flower.  

Le Social will take over the Bungalow at Kampus from 5th August until the end of September. It will be open Thursday and Friday 4pm-10pm; Saturday and Sunday 12pm -10pm.
