We all love Dishoom’s Bombay comfort food, and we’ve had fun trying the recipes from their beautiful cookbook at home during lockdown.
And we especially loved the launch of their bacon naan roll kit, which means we could have one of the best breakfasts in the city at home in our pyjamas.
Now comes the news that the Manchester Hall restaurant is able to offer home delivery for a selection of its dishes, bringing the Dishoom experience into your home.
The new delivery menu has been designed to feature only those recipes that can abide a little travel, they say – biryanis, ruby murrays and the famous house black daal, along with first-class small plates, vegetable side dishes and fluffy hand-made breads.
These culinary comforts (and other sundries) can now be dishoomed to homes every day from 12pm to 10pm in most parts of the city centre, Spinningfields, Green Quarter, Ancoats, Salford, and Salford Quays.
There are just a few simple finishing instructions to follow at home, to make sure your food is at its best.
You might like to crisp your samosas and naans for a couple of minutes in an oven pre-heated to 180°C, they suggest, while daal and dishes with a sauce can all be served nicely piping hot after a few minutes in a saucepan.
They recommend the oven for biryani, but a short burst in the microwave is an acceptable shortcut.
Other dishes just require a simple dressing or included garnish such as a squeeze of lime adding at home.
There will be more dishes coming soon, as we hear that Chef Naved is currently very busy in the kitchen developing new dishes for delivery.
And, as in the restaurants, for each and every meal ordered for delivery, Dishoom donate a meal to a child.
They work with Akshaya Patra, a charity in India which provides nourishing free meals to schools. This means the children are undistracted by hunger, and ready to learn.
Delivery is availble 12pm to 10pm in most parts of the city centre, Spinningfields, Green Quarter, Ancoats, Salford, and Salford Quays. Guests can check the eligibility of their postcode for delivery and also place an order via dishoom.com/order-online.
