Late-night party bar and all-round Northern Quarter favourite Hula are reopening tonight with a brand new look, following six months of forced closure due to Covid-19.

Owners Northern Hospitality has used the time the tiki bar’s been closed to invest in the popular site, giving it a full makeover with new flooring, booths and decoration to make it ‘more tiki than ever.’

Transporting you to a 1950s inspired space, the basement bar exudes tropical beach-style with retro vibes and a mesmerising exotic fish tank at the entrance.

Situated in the newly-pedestrianized Stevenson Square, as of Friday 28th August Hula will welcome guests back for a new socially distanced, Tiki-inspired night out.

The cocktail menu boasts a large selection of classics for those who wouldn’t dream of anything else, whilst for the more adventurous drinkers, there’s a new selection of wild and wacky potions on offer.

With its late license, Hula has always been the go-to late-night venue in the Northern Quarter. But there’ll be no more bopping on the dance floor for now, due to ongoing COVID restrictions.

‘For now, it may not be quite the Hula we know from before, as it will be strictly table service only. Until we can welcome back DJ and dancing guests will have to remain seated throughout their visit,” said Andrew Blackburn, Managing Director at Hula.

“We are, however, very excited to finally reopen the venue and to welcome back both guests and staff.’

As expected, Hula has implemented some changes like placing hand sanitiser throughout,  new digital menus, contactless payments, widening the distance between tables and guests, new track and trace procedures and strict cleaning routines.

They have also increased the number of staff and security. Booking in advance is not required.

Opening every weekend from 8 pm until 3 am, the bar launches its new look this Friday.
