Sneak preview of Mottram Hall Hotel & Spa’s £10 million refurbishment

Mottram Hall is in the process of getting a serious makeover as owners install a brand new health spa, bar and entrance hall.

The spa is currently closed whilst work takes place but the 4-star luxury hotel remains open.

The last time most of us saw the inside the spa at Mottram Hall was when The Real Housewives of Cheshire squabbled in hot tubs on ITVBe.

Now the hotel’s new owners are busy transforming it into what they say will be the most indulgent and prestigious spa in Cheshire.

The hotel had already had a £6 million refurbishment back in 2013, but the UK’s leading spa resort group Champneys wanted to put their own stamp on the place after they acquired Mottram Hall in October 2018.

The £10 million refurbishment includes a £5 million redesign of its spa facilities.

The new spa will feature a revamped state-of-the-art gym with studio and cycle studio to ensure you work up a sweat before you unwind in the new 25m outdoor pool, equipped with advanced thermal experiences, a hydro pool, essential for physiotherapy, and poolside private cabanas for optimal privacy.

There will also be a steam room and sauna to detoxify and revitalise, alongside experience showers to boost endorphins. Extensive treatment rooms and a stunning pedicure and manicure area will enable guests to experience the magic touch of Champneys spa therapists.

They’re promising the spa will be completely transformed to rival any world class spa. We can’t wait to take it for a test drive.

It will reopen in three phases, with the existing five treatment rooms and indoor pool being made available to guests and visitors from 1st March.

On 22nd March the new sauna, steam room, hot tub and spa cafe will be unveiled.

Then on 1st August Mottram Hall’s all-new outdoor 20m pool, spa restaurant, treatment rooms, changing rooms and gym will be revealed in all their glory.

But it’s not just about the new spa. Champneys has big plans for the main house of Mottram Hall, too. With a renovated restaurant, new bar and lounge and a brand new entrance, the grandeur of Mottram Hall will feel unstoppable.

The new bar will open in what was previously the Garden room on Wednesday 5th February, followed by the new reception area – which will be where the current champagne bar is – on 7th.

The beautiful, Grade II listed Georgian manor house was built in 1721 by Nathaniel Booth and was privately owned before it was converted into a hotel in 1940, keeping all the ornate ceilings and historic features.

It’s set within 270 acres of immaculately landscaped gardens, boasts an impressive 18-hole Championship golf course and has been awarded AA rosettes for culinary excellence, making it the perfect destination for a get-away-from-it-all weekend that’s on your doorstep.
