Mr Jesse Lingard: an apology

It all started with an innocent tweet at 1.35pm on February 6th.

Unfortunately, Jesse replied at 3.07pm during the memorial service at Old Trafford to the victims of the Munich air disaster.

Some people were upset about the timing of his tweet. And it turned into a bit of a Twitter storm.

So he apologised.

Just to put the record straight, we don’t know Mr Lingard. In fact, we’ve never met him. We’re just fans. We’ve got a signed Fletcher Moss Rangers shirt – the junior football club Jesse and Marcus Rashford played for – on display in the office. We sponsor them.

The thing about Jesse Lingard is this. How many Premier League footballers could you  invite to have a game of FIFA18 and actually get a reply? We think it’s really refreshing.

Unfortunately, on this occasion it backfired.

We would therefore like to apologise for the timing of the original tweet. It should have waited till the following day. If we hadn’t tweeted it, Jesse wouldn’t have replied.

The only excuse we have is that the person who sent Jesse the tweet is an Oldham Athletic fan and therefore probably not responsible for his actions.

PS When can we pencil you in for that game of FIFA18, Jesse?
