This is an LBD with a difference. What’s being hailed as the most hi-tech dress in the world is joining our city’s fashion landscape.
This stunning, contemporary and trend forward piece – a definite one of a kind item – was unveiled by Britain’s Next Top Model finalist Bethan Sowerby at the Trafford Centre today. With hi-tech meeting hi-fashion in this fun and feminine way, I think one thing’s for sure; your LBD of the future will never be the same again.
This is the first time that miracle material graphene has ever been used in fashion design and, for all of you fashionistas out there, it’s well worth popping into the Trafford Centre to see it.
So, what is graphene? Well, it was isolated in Manchester in 2004 and is proven to be 200 times stronger than steel but lighter than paper. Designers have hand-crafted the dress from this snazzy material which responds to the breathing rates of the wearer and changes colour too. This is a pretty technically advanced dress, if we do say so ourselves.
“Technology and fashion have come together to create what is the world’s most high-tech dress and could become the blueprint for what our millions of customers will be wearing in the future,” said intu Trafford Centre general manager Richard Paxton.
Francesca Rosella of Cute Circuit, whose previous hi-tech creations have been modelled by Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger, had a similar opinion.
“Graphene has never been used in the fashion industry and being the first to use it was a real honour, allowing us to have a lot of fun creating the stunning intu little back graphene dress and showcasing graphene’s amazing properties.”
The designers hope that this same technology could eventually be used in the future to change the way we dress.
