For anyone who lives here, we already know how good the city is.

But making these best in the world lists is a bit of a regular occurrence now, isn’t it?

Manchester was named in Time Out magazine’s 23 Best Things To Do in the World list 2023.

Coming in at number 9, under the title ‘visit a new blockbuster art venue’, Time Out poured the praise on our great City.

Hvalfjörður in Iceland topped the list, followed by Madrid and Yucatan in Mexico. Paris came in at number four, with Marrakesh at five.

The Magazine wrote: “Manchester is making a storm right now, with the UK city being crowned one of the world’s very best places to visit by Lonely Planet in 2022.

“It’s not showing any signs of slowing down this year, with the long-awaiting opening of Factory International, a £186 million arts venue which will be the new, permanent home of the biennial Manchester International Festival.

“The 2023 festival (June 29-July 16) will be filled with all sorts of big shows and experiences to get stuck into – including the largest-ever immersive Yayoi Kusama exhibition and a stage adaptation of The Matrix directed by Danny Boyle.”

Manchester was the only city in the UK to make the top ten.

Late on last year, Lonely Planet named Manchester as the only UK City to feature in the Best in Travel 2023 list.

Time Out also heaped praise on the Northern Quarter in 2022 calling it ‘one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods’.

This was backed up by an article with Nomads Nation which names Manchester as one of the coolest places to live in the UK, with a lot of love for the Northern Quarter and Ancoats, too.
