Two massive much-loved food brands are coming to MediaCity this summer

Waterside community MediaCity is home to some of the world’s biggest brands, from BBC North and ITV to Ericsson, The Hut Group and Kellogg’s.

A popular residential neighbourhood, the area, which is set to double in size within the next decade, is also becoming increasingly popular for its social scene, from catching up with friends for a leisurely lunch to post-work drinks and pre-theatre dining.

Now, two more huge names are set to join its growing roster of popular food and drink offerings.

A gigantic new Greggs

An enormous new branch of Greggs will open in the former Booths unit next to the new Co-op store, creating 25 local jobs in the process.

At a whopping 1500 sq ft, the huge new opening will stock all the freshly prepared Greggs favourites we know and love, including its ever-popular sausage rolls, steak bakes and vegan alternatives as well as fresh shop-made sandwiches, salads, soups and more. 

“We know there’s a dedicated Greggs fan base across MediaCity and after listening to feedback we’re thrilled to secure Greggs, who will be opening a significant sized store here this summer,” said Chris Reay, MediaCity Property Director. 

“It will provide a good value, convenience food offering which will be in demand from our growing numbers of workers, residents and visitors alike. 

“It will be an incredible success here.”

We certainly don’t doubt that.

A waterside Caribbean bar and shack

Caribbean restaurant and bar Turtle Bay is also set to open a new restaurant in Salford Quays this August, creating 60 new jobs.

The brand-new 180-cover restaurant will be the third Turtle Bay to open in Greater Manchester, with two restaurants already in Manchester city centre, on Oxford Street and in the Northern Quarter.

Diners will be able to eat and drink in Turtle Bay’s trademark beach shack-style restaurant, or on their beautiful waterside terrace area overlooking one of the UK’s most visited arts centres, The Lowry.

The menu will feature Caribbean soul food and island-inspired breakfast dishes as well as a jerk pit barbecue, healthy buddha bowls and small plates, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options as well as vegan cocktails.

And speaking of cocktails, Salford Quays customers will also be able to enjoy delicious rum-based cocktails as 2-4-1 every single day, with a Happy Hour running from 10am-7pm daily. 

Bottomless brunch will also be available at the new site, with a two-hour Caribbean cocktail and brunching experience which includes unlimited tropical cocktails, mocktails, Red Stripe and prosecco.
