You may have heard of Seven Bro7hers beer. You may even have tried it. Now say hello to Four Sis4ers gin. And yes, they are related.

The amazing McAvoy clan of Salford – seven beer-brewing brothers and four gin-distilling sisters – reckon they are the biggest single family in the alcohol business in the world.

Sisters Kerry Collins, 54, Hayley Robinson, 52, Kate Haslam, 47 and Lucy McAvoy, 38, recently launched Four Sis4ers Gin, following in the footsteps of their brothers Guy, 56, Keith, 49, Luke, 44, Daniel, 43, Nathan, 41, Kit, 36 and Greg, 34, who started their brewery in 2014 – inspired by their dad Eric’s home-brewing efforts over the years in the cellar of their home in Weaste.

The success of the award-winning Seven Bro7thers Brewery, now based in Salford Quays with a popular Beer House in fashionable Ancoats, provoked a touch of sibling rivalry and inspired the sisters to do it for themselves.

And Four Sis4ers premium Signature Gin, a classic blend of botanicals including juniper, coriander, angelica, orris, cassia, liquorice, almonds, mastiche, lemon and orange, with a hint of blueberry, has won instant plaudits for its smooth delicacy.

After seven months dedicated to research, they had a special copper still made for them in Portugal, which they have christened Frederica – a combination of their parents’ names, Eric and Freda.

Eric was a self-employed builder and all-round handyman while Freda ran two shops on Liverpool Street, Salford – Eric McAvoy and Sons DIY shop and the Oasis sandwich shop next door.

The sisters have pulled off an early major coup by winning over Salford’s five-star Lowry Hotel, which has just announced an exclusive collaboration with Four Sis4ers to offer a range of refreshingly good cocktails.

The hotel has devised a menu based on the Signature Gin: five different cocktail concoctions ranging from sweet to dry flavours, with the botanicals used in the Signature Gin perfectly suited to many cocktail combinations.

Alongside an already extensive selection of cocktails on the hotel’s menu, the five gin cocktails have proved popular with guests.

The sisters unveiled their new strawberry flavoured gin at a tasting at the hotel recently.

The Lowry Hotel’s assistant food and beverage manager Tiziano Tangorra, who has joined the hotel from San Carlo, said of the new partnership:

“The collaboration with Four Sis4ers Gin is the start of many more to come for the River Bar and Restaurant.

“We are always experimenting with different flavours and gin is a perfect fit for the warmer months, with refreshing ingredients complimenting the spirit. The Lowry Hotel also aims to use locally sourced ingredients and this partnership is a testament to that.”

The collaboration also includes a five-star experience, with private tours of the distillery and the brewery, including gin and beer tastings for up to ten people, available upon request when booking with the hotel concierge.

Lucy McAvoy, who handles the marketing for Four Sis4ers, said: “As a premium artisan gin producer in Salford we felt it was important to partner with high quality outlets and, of course, start with our home town.

“The Lowry Hotel, which has a reputation for sourcing and truly valuing local producers and high quality products, perfectly suits our premium brand and as Salford’s only five-star hotel, it made perfect partnership sense to us to promote and collaborate a cocktail range using our Signature Gin with them.

“This is the first major collaboration for us to date and the start of many more future partnerships with The Lowry Hotel, as we continue to release our range of flavoured gins throughout this year.”

The cocktails are now available at the River Bar and Restaurant priced £14.50.
