Liam and Noel Gallagher have turned trading insults into something of an art form. Over the years, the pair haven’t shown each other much brotherly love, with their most recent spat threatening to take the gloss off the One Love Manchester benefit concert.
Not long after making a surprise appearance at the Emirates Old Trafford, Liam turned his attention to his brother whom he criticised for failing to make an appearance.
There had been speculation about a possible Oasis reunion, but fans had to make do with a performance from Coldplay’s Chris Martin instead.
Following Liam’s criticism of his brother, the Coldplay frontman defended Noel and thanked him for “lending” him his songs for the gig.
Martin tweeted: “thank you @noelgallagher for giving your blessing and encouragement to play don’t look back in anger and live forever on sunday… everyone knew in advance you couldn’t be there physically, so thank you for being there in spirit… and for lending us those incredible songs. love cm.”

It has since emerged that Noel has secretly donated ALL royalties from Don’t Look Back In Anger to the families of the Manchester terror attack.
The Oasis legend and his management team made arrangements after the iconic track became the city’s de facto anthem in the wake of the attack in which 22 people were killed and over 100 injured.
The song was heard at vigils across Manchester and as a result Noel made the gesture privately to ensure that the victims’ families received the donations.
Organisers of the benefit concert have since issued a statement regarding Noel’s absence from the event.
A spokesperson for SB Projects, Live Nation, Festival Republic and SJM Concerts said: “Sunday’s concert was a huge success and we are all dismayed that there is negativity aimed towards Noel Gallagher.
“Neither Noel nor Oasis were ever going to perform. We were extremely pleased when, last week, Noel not only gave his blessing for us to use his songs, but also told us that he was donating his royalties from Don’t Look Back In Anger to the fund.
“Let’s keep the positivity please. One Love Manchester.”
The song was originally released on the band’s second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory in October 1995, and later released as a single in February 1996, becoming their second number 1 hit in the UK.
