We know we go on about how great Manchester is and we know we could be accused of bias. But if you don’t believe us, ask Susan Spencer.

In case you’re wondering who Susan Spencer is, she is a Scottish businesswoman who recently published an article entitled The Beautiful City of Manchester on the Huffington Post’s contributor platform.

Here’s a flavour of what she wrote.

She describes Manchester as a wonderful city, and one of the true shining lights of British public life.

She lived here for a while so she should know. And it gets better.

Manchester has become a true symbol of Britain. Forget London; when people want to see the real UK, they head to a place like this! Whereas other cities left behind their genuine roots and passions in the past, Manchester has done nothing of the sort.

She describes the people as friendly and charming and says there’s plenty of things to do.

Fantastic culture, wonderful people and horrible, British weather. Two out of three ain’t bad, Susan.

We haven’t met Susan Spencer but she sounds like a woman with exquisite taste.

I wouldn’t change it for the world. I might not like a cagoule and I might think the Stone Roses aren’t that special, but everything else about Manchester that I was promised rang true. I love Manchester, and would move back there in a minute.

We love you too, Susan. Come back soon.

PS You’re wrong about the Stone Roses.
