Lifestyle store Uniqlo is coming back to Manchester with a bang – launching a huge northern flagship on Market Street.
The Japanese fashion and lifestyle brand has taken on the vast 21,000 sq ft site vacated by BHS at the Manchester Arndale, which fronts on to Market Street.
The brand’s distinctive white and red branding is now in place on the site, as workmen busily create the interiors ready for opening in “Spring 2019”.
It’s been over 15 years since Uniqlo was last in Manchester – also back then to be found at the Arndale.
On the brand’s official instagram the opening was confirmed at the weekend in a post saying: “Tokyo heads up north”.
Famous for its Heattech thermal-wear and quality modern essentials, with the slogan “life made simple”, it offers sleek fashions for men, women and children.
Manchester Arndale‘s joint owners Intu and M&G Real Estate have confirmed that Uniqlo has signed to take the 21,000 sq ft site on a 15-year lease.
The Japanese fashion outlet, which enjoys massive popularity across the globe, has recently launched a high profile underwear collaboration with celebrated designer Alexander Wang.
It will be the brand’s 12th UK store and only the fourth outside of London.
The Uniqlo launch follows on from the opening of Ralph Lauren, Monki and GAP and multi-brand boutiques like Tessuti and Scotts at the Manchester Arndale in recent months.
Kannika Mall, asset manager at M&G Real Estate, comments on behalf of the joint owners: “The arrival of Uniqlo at Manchester Arndale is a real point of success for the centre, which continues to build its fashion credentials with a wider range of new and exciting brands than ever before.
“It is also brilliant news for shoppers in the north of England who can add Uniqlo to their shopping wishlist. The timing of the new store, just as Uniqlo launches its designer collaboration with Alexander Wang, couldn’t be better.”
