Co-working space provider Ziferblat is to open its largest ‘sitting room’ in the country at MediaCityUK, spanning the ground and mezzanine floors of Tomorrow, a new workspace for digital and creative businesses.

In case you’re not familiar with the Ziferblat concept, everything is free – unlimited teas, coffees, cakes, biscuits and snacks plus access to Wi-Fi, board games, magazines, and newspapers. All you pay is 8p per minute for the time you spend there.

It’s furnished and decorated in the inimitable Ziferblat style and looks like their Northern Quarter home on steroids. Or acid. Or both. As well as the shabby chic decor and furniture, there are two garden sheds and a classroom which can be used for community events. You know that quirky aunt or uncle you only see at Christmas? It’s their house meets Alice in Wonderland.

There’s also a ‘digital window’ between Ziferblat’s MediaCityUK and Northern Quarter venues, with live stream screens giving guests a real-time view of the other location.

Events lined up for MediaCityUK include secret gigs, yoga classes, film clubs, pop-up food events and themed talks. They will also be serving takeaway Ziferblend coffee on an honesty box basis, so grab one on your way out if you’re in a rush and pay what you think it’s worth. Don’t be too stingy, mind.

The space can accommodate meetings for 2-100 people as well as larger conferences for up to 250 delegates.

Simon Kaye, Ziferblat’s business development manager said: “We are incredibly excited to become part of the thriving creative community in MediaCityUK. The pay-as-you-stay concept is an alternative to a café or co-working space, offering more comfort and flexibility for guests than these conventional venues.

“Since opening in early 2015 in the Northern Quarter, Ziferblat now welcomes over 10,000 guests per month. There will be another Ziferblat site announced in Manchester by the end of the year.”

Don’t know about you, but we’re pretty excited about it.
