Leading TV Illusionist Ryan Tricks took to the streets of Manchester to surprise and delight passing shoppers this week by making their dream items appear seemingly out of nowhere – from flights to a new pair of trainers.
Ryan, best known for his headline grabbing stint on America’s Got Talent, delighted unsuspecting passing shoppers by conjuring up prizes out of nowhere, including making a QR code appear from thin air.
When scanned, the illusionist’s shocked shopper was told they had won £1,000.
Other prizes included one shopper finding freshly dropped Nike trainers appearing in an empty box with their name and correct shoes size, while another who had said they had always wanted to visit Iceland was rewarded with tickets from Lastminute.com after they appeared out of thin air.
The series of illusions that took place on the streets of Manchester celebrated the launch of Laybuy’s App Exclusives which sees hundreds of the UK’s favourite retailers added onto the Laybuy App.
The activity took place against the backdrop of Laybuy’s magic scannable mural, which was unveiled last week and offers shoppers the chance to win hundreds of cash prizes.
The innovative street art contains a hidden code that, when scanned in real life or from a photograph, takes shoppers to a special webpage where they can enter a draw to win a share of £10,000 to spend on any of the hundreds of new brands featured on the Laybuy app.
“I spotted the mural so stopped to take a picture, and I’m definitely glad I did!” said Laura Malik, a 35 year old children’s nurse from Whitefield.
“My husband and I had the day off today so we just popped into town for some lunch as this is a very rare day together without the kids and I can’t believe how it’s turned out.”
The mural forms the centrepiece of a nationwide ‘Laybuy Scavenger Hunt’ competition, which sees similar codes hidden in Laybuy digital billboards across the country.
If people spot a code, they can scan it for the chance to win one of the 100 cash prizes available, ranging from £50 right up £1,000.
Anyone who sees the mural in person, or in pictures, can scan the QR code to be in with a chance of winning a share of £10,000 to spend on hundreds of brands on the Laybuy app.
“It’s always my goal is to see surprise, mild confusion, and excitement on the faces of my audience, and by making these dream items from Laybuy appear magically out of nowhere I was definitely able to bring this to Manchester for the day,” said illusionist Ryan.
“It was a first for me using QR code technology to add an extra twist to my tricks, and it’s exciting for me to know that anyone who now sees this mural has the chance to get their hands on one of the amazing prizes I’ve been surprising people with today.”
