Nothing says Christmas like the smell of mulled berries, wood smoke and cinnamon. Now that the leaves have firmly changed colour and we’re all wrapped up warm against the chill in the air, it’s time to tuck into a well travelled festive menu.

There are plenty of places to eat around Peter Street but none offer such tempting food as that on offer at the recently reinvented Mr Cooper’s.

Mr Cooper’s is a beautifully preserved restaurant just off Peter Street. It stands much as it did in the 19th Century when it was the site of a traditional Victorian house and garden. Like the plants which line the dining room, the cooking here is rooted in great international cuisine.

The reinvented Christmas experience is now officially underway. Whether you’re planning an office Christmas party or a get together with friends, look no further for a taste of laid-back luxury this festive season.

The 150 seater restaurant and beautiful relaxed bar area is the perfect destination to meet up for a tipple and a bite to eat from the reinvented modern festive menu, which brings alive classic, original ingredients with a twist of surprising flavours – just how Mr Cooper likes it.

You can break away from tradition and enjoy the flavours of the spelt and barbecued squash risotto with roasted chestnuts and cranberries followed by elderberry pavlova with pomegranate and vanilla cream.

Or indulge in the more traditional option of turkey breast and all the trimmings in true Mr Cooper’s style. The homemade sourdough is always a great starter, complete with whipped butter.

For small plates there’s a choice of roasted sweet potato and coconut soup, and chilli oil; gin cured salmon, fennel, and grapefruit; ham hock and parsley, sticky beetroot salad, and caramelised pecans. Each freshly made and delicious.

For main course, choose from spelt and barbecued squash risotto, roasted chestnuts and cranberries; sea bream fillet, new potatoes, tender stem broccoli, salsify, and caper butter; or turkey breast, apricot and sage stuffing, dripping potatoes, root vegetables, with redcurrant sauce.

For dessert, choose from cheese board, fig chutney, walnuts, fennel seed crackers or Christmas cake and brandy ice cream. For those with a slightly sweeter tooth, opt for the dark chocolate delice, amaretti or Tonka bean ice cream.

Sides skin-on fries, creamed kale, smoked almonds and sautéed new potatoes each make a fantastic side to compliment whatever meal you opt for.

And there’s a selection of winter warmers made with style and expertise waiting for you at the bar.

Choose from Gabrielle’s Halo (Benedictine, prosecco, cassis and orange oleo), Mistletoe and Wine (Tanqueray, pinot noir, cherry heering and vanilla), Jack Frost (Ketel One, kummez, lemon juice and crème de menthe), Pomme Noelle (Apple jack, Havana 7, apple juice and winter spice).

The seasonal menu is available until 24th December between 12pm-6:30pm with two courses from £22 or 3 courses for £26. Must be booked in advance. To book call 0161 235 4781.

To add the cherry to the Christmas cake, we’re offering a complimentary bottle of beer or a glass of sparkling wine when you quote ‘I love Manchester’ when booking the festive menu. This will run from the 30th November until 24th December and will be available between 12:00pm-6:30pm.

Mr Cooper’s is on Mount Street  – less than 2 minutes walk from St Peter’s Square Metrolink or 5 minutes from Oxford Road station.
