A Manchester theatre company is looking for 100 Manchester City fans to take part in a play – and no professional actors!
Contact Theatre Company are opening their 2017 autumn season in September with a new play which brings the experiences of City fans to the stage.
We’re Not Really Here: A Football Opera is a piece dedicated to what it means to be a football fan – the highs, the lows, the banter and the songs and puts the fans centre stage. The audience sit in the middle as if they are on the pitch and watch the fans as if they are watching a match.
It’s an international collaboration between Contact and Belgian theatre directors, Yahya Terryn, Gilles De Schryver and Oliver Roels – formerly of legendary Belgian company het Kip.
They’re looking for City fans of all ages to be part of this unique theatre performance.
They need people to do what they do week in, week out, at games – the songs, the banter, the chants.
No acting experience is required to take part. They just need you to commit to most of the rehearsal period and all public performances. And don’t worry, it’s not an opera. There’s no singing other than the chants and songs associated with the club.
Rehearsal times will be arranged according to your daytime or evening availability. All rehearsals and performances will take place at Contact Theatre, Oxford Road in September.
