Following a hugely successful reception last year, First Street has announced it will be hosting the Manchester Ice Rink again for 2018.

Last year, thousands of visitors skated at First Street – and this year they’ve got a few extra tricks up their sleeves to make sure the experience is even more fun-packed for 2018.

This year the 15m x 20m ice rink will be on site throughout the holiday season – 15th November to 6th January.

It will be open between 3pm and 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 9pm at weekends – with new later skate sessions running up to 8pm.

This year, skaters will also be able to enjoy locally-curated worker bee markets with stalls offering handmade crafts, jewellery, unique food gifts, decorations and treats.

Conceived by experienced market trader Clare Simpson, who this year was a Best Small Business finalist at the Northern Soul Awards, the stalls will be at First Street on Wednesday 5th, 12th and 19th December from 12 noon – 6pm.

First Street’s food and drink operators will be offering up special deals and discounts for skaters.

Simon Wood’s WoodShack pop-up bar will be serving up warming hot toddies and mulled wine, and skaters can also enjoy a great view of the rink from the terrace of INNSIDE Manchester hotel.

HOME will be showing two family-friendly theatre shows whilst the rink is in town – White, for ages 2-4, and Dutch musical Slapstick for slightly older children, as well as other feel-good festive classics.

Prices will start at just £10 with special rates available for group and corporate bookings.

Bookings are now being taken. The rink will be open every weekday from 3pm with the final session at 8pm and every weekend from 10am.
