Deansgate favourite The Living Room, which opened in 1999 and was graced with footballers for a decade, has undergone an extensive refurbishment with a distinctive art deco theme.

The major facelift has seen the downstairs bar area morph into a space with light, clean decor with geometric patterns, pastel colours and glitzy gold highlights. Upstairs, the dining room itself has been opened to allow diners to overlook the bar area and to allow light to flood down, creating a feeling of space which was missing from its previous incarnation.

The paler, soft colours enhance the feeling of light whilst maintaining the classy New York feel and the charm that the Living Room has become known for. Add in two new ‘hidden’ bars, regular live music on Saturday nights and new menus, and The Living Room is ready to wow the city.

The drinks menu is proving especially tantalising – with wines that have been sourced especially for The Living Room, dessert cocktail options for those with a sweet tooth, and drinks creations that make the most of their spirits – including those behind their two secluded bars.

The first of these bars, the Grey Goose Lounge on the first floor, adds a hint of colonial style, with painted wood panelling, window shutters and palm tree prints, while the menu itself allows cocktail classics such as the Grey Goose Fizz to mingle with the sweet fruity French Kiss.

But it’s perhaps the second, the Haig Club Clubman Room, that has caused the most excitement, opened as it was by the Haig Club brand icon David Beckham. The bar features a plush deep blue theme, hints of bright neon and a number of bespoke cocktails, including a Negroni and the tropical Clubman Colada.

Of course, Becks couldn’t leave the bar without making his mark on the place – literally. His signature will be framed and protected for the pleasure of future drinkers.

The bars are available for private hire and open to all customers when not unreserved, so you can host your own Beckham-esque soiree or just a bit of a do.

The Living Room is open from 11am til late, and features brunch, through to lunch and dinner, as well as an extensive drinks menu, and live music every Saturday night.
