In an extraordinary display of endurance and philanthropy, Stuart Nevin, along with the Morecambe Community Runners (MCR), are set to embark on the formidable GB ULTRAS 220-mile Ultramarathon.

This Herculean race, spanning the full length of Scotland’s Southern Upland Way, demands runners to conquer a gruelling 346 kilometres with an elevation gain of approximately 8000 meters, all within a 100-hour time limit.

But for Stuart Nevin, this is more than just a physical challenge—it’s a mission to support the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

The ultramarathon, while not quite the “500 miles” famed in The Proclaimers’ song, aims to raise £500 for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

Each mile conquered will contribute to this significant cause, making every step worthwhile.

Stuart Nevin, a Manchester native and founder of the Morecambe Community Runners, has taken on this challenge to raise £500 for the MND Association, a cause close to his heart.

“This is not just an incredible physical challenge but also an amazing opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Stuart.

“By raising funds for the MND Association, we hope to support their efforts in improving access to care, advancing research, and advocating for those affected by MND in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.”

Raising money for the MND Association

The MND Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease and their families.

Contributions made through the JustGiving platform will be directly sent to the MND Association.

The GB ULTRAS 220-Mile Coast to Coast Ultra-Marathon is renowned for its scenic yet challenging course, which takes runners from the picturesque coastline of Portpatrick, across mountains, through valleys and forests, and along historically rich trails.

This event attracts an international field of runners, all vying to conquer the breathtaking Southern Upland Way under the scrutiny of live tracking.

Nevin’s journey is not just about the miles; it’s about every step taken towards a cure and better support for those suffering from MND.

“Your support will provide crucial funds for the MND Association, aiding their mission and impacting lives profoundly,” added Stuart.

Stuart Nevin and the Morecambe Community Runners are calling on supporters to sponsor their journey and help reach the £500 target. They are nearly there, so maybe you can help them get over the line!
