Stockport Gin’s Original Edition Gin has been awarded a 2-star award by Great Taste, the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards. Out of 5,383 products worldwide to receive a Great Taste 1-, 2- or 3-star accolade on Tuesday 21 September, the gin will now be able to display the unmistakable black and gold logo, a stamp of excellence that is recognised by retailers and consumers alike.

Stockport Gin, owned and made by Paul and Cheryl Sharrocks from their town centre distillery, launched their Original Edition gin in March 2019, and this is the latest in a growing list of awards for their range of gins. The Original Edition Gin is a citrus-forward London Dry Gin distilled with lemon peel, orange peel and locally foraged pine needles.

Paul explains: “We are over the moon that our Original Edition Gin has been awarded two stars at the Great Taste Awards 2021. Only a small number of entered products achieved this accolade, so for our gin to be one of them is amazing. When we first launched our gin, we set out to make something that others would love as much as we do and with recognition from awards like this, we certainly feel we have achieved that!”

Established in 1994, Great Taste is organised by the Guild of Fine Food and is the world’s largest, longest-standing and respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. There were 14,113 products entered in this year’s awards; of those, just 1,138 received two stars. That’s less than 10% of all entries. 2 Star awards represent products that are described as ‘above and beyond delicious.’
