What do Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Milla Jovovich, Jack Grealish, Michael Buffer, Raheem Sterling, NAO and Graham McTavish all have in common?
The answer, rather surprisingly, is West Gorton.
Or, more specifically, Space Studios Manchester – the place where each and every one of them have shot advertising campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands.
The world of advertising can be and indeed is a mysterious world of smoke and mirrors.
At the cinema or even just at home chilling in front of the telly it is virtually impossible to escape the power of the creatives who manufacture the dreams into which they want us to buy.
But how many people might look at any of these adverts and suspect that they were actually shot in the middle of Manchester’s West Gorton at Space Studios Manchester?
Probably not many – but the truth is that Space Studios is a place where advertising, globally recognised TV hit series such as Peaky Blinders and high end movies including the forthcoming Jared Leto fronted epic, Morbius can live and work together in harmony!
In fact, in the case of the new Johnny Walker campaign starring the actor and supermodel Milla Jovovich, advertising and movies really did collide in Manchester – the director was none other than Hollywood’s own Paul W. S. Anderson.
“Sometimes it is hard to believe just how much we have going on under our roof and just how many famous faces know who we are and have worked side by side in our stages,” says Dean Sinacola, studio manager at the West Gorton site.
“They have been a part of some of the most instantly recognisable screen moments of recent times.”
Mark Hackett, Sales Manager at Space, adds: “It is our aim to make sure every square metre of space is used to its maximum potential so when the opportunity arises between longer running projects ending and starting to welcome a team from the world of advertising we are more than happy to accommodate their requirements.”
