As the curtain falls on Sonata’s inaugural year, owner Dale Bassett reflects on the incredible journey thus far.

He said: “It’s been a challenging year to launch a venture, but the overwhelming support and love from guests have made it all worthwhile.

“Sonata has become more than just a piano bar; it has transformed into a thriving community, a place where music enthusiasts and artists alike can enjoy magical evenings together.

“Everyone is welcome here, if you’re looking for something a bit different or a great place to take a date, why not pay us a visit?”

Manchester’s local music talent

Since its inception, Sonata has been a haven for local talent, hosting over 200 artists who have graced their stage.

Notable names, such as Mancunian-born Berlin-based cabaret star Jack Woodhead, have flocked to perform at Sonata.

Other highlights include Sonata welcoming the cast of “The Lion King” for an acoustic performance alongside a live orchestra, leaving the audience in awe back in October.

Sonata’s allure lies in its diverse and eclectic program, showcasing jazz, soul, pop, and musical theatre.

From traditional jazz quartets to thought-provoking devised theatre, the common thread is the piano, the heart and soul of Sonata’s melodic tapestry.

Whether it’s a solo pianist enchanting with their artistry or a pianist accompanied by a captivating vocalist, every performance at Sonata is a class act, leaving audiences spellbound.

As the first year comes to a close, Sonata’s founder and owner, Dale Bassett, is eager to make the second year even more exceptional.
