Smart Works Greater Manchester, the inspiring charity helping unemployed women gain the confidence and skills to secure jobs, is launching a festive fundraising mission in partnership with The Big Give.
From December 3rd to December 10th, the charity aims to raise £25,000, which will be matched by The Big Give, potentially doubling the total to £50,000.
This campaign comes at a crucial time when the cost-of-living crisis is pushing more women to seek employment for financial stability. Smart Works’ holistic approach combines personalised styling with interview coaching, helping women regain their confidence and independence.
Smart Works Manchester
Founded in 2013, Smart Works operates 11 centres across the UK, with Greater Manchester being a vital hub. The charity’s impact is profound: in 2022, they helped over 833 women in Greater Manchester, with two-thirds securing employment within a month. Nationally, Smart Works aims to support 10,000 women this year.
Earlier this year, Smart Works Greater Manchester expanded its reach by opening a second centre in Manchester’s city centre, doubling its capacity to serve women across the region’s ten boroughs. Now, with the Big Give Christmas Challenge, the charity hopes to raise funds to meet rising demand and continue offering life-changing support.
Jan Iceton, Chair of Smart Works Greater Manchester, emphasised the importance of the appeal: “These funds will allow us to extend our reach, helping more women not only find jobs but regain a sense of purpose and dignity. The generosity of our community can transform lives.”
Doubling donations, doubling impact with The Big Give
From 12 PM on December 3rd to 12 PM on December 10th, every donation will be matched by The Big Give, turning £25,000 into £50,000. These funds will directly support essential services such as personalised coaching sessions, interview preparation, and providing work-appropriate clothing.
The appeal also focuses on outreach, engaging with communities, referral partners, and job fairs to help as many women as possible.
Donations made during the Big Give Christmas Challenge will have twice the impact, ensuring Smart Works Greater Manchester can continue to transform lives. Contributions will enhance outreach efforts, expand access to services in high-need areas, and help more women rebuild their confidence.
Visit the Smart Works Greater Manchester x The Big Give Christmas Challenge donation page between December 3rd and 10th to support the cause.
