Bored of Dating Apps is a series of in-person events which “focus on the joy of community people’s mental health in matters of the heart,” says founder, Jessica Evans. “It’s an environment where friendship is just as important as romance”

Jessica started Bored of Dating Apps (aka BODA) after finding herself with “dating app fatigue” and looking for a way to form new friendships and relationships in a more organic setting.

Their events have been “going down a storm” in Liverpool and Jessica looks to expand the popularity to Manchester.

“There is going to be a rebellion against dating apps and doing everything online,” says Evans. “People don’t want to feel constrained to just social media, dating apps and WhatsApp anymore.”

BODA is aimed at “men and women in their 20s, 30s and 40s” and past events have “generally seen an equal split of males and females with around 90% of attendees rocking up solo to embrace the experience to the full extent.”

The upcoming series of events will include dumpling-making masterclasses, pasta workshops, cheese & wine supper clubs, hikes, quizzes, yoga socials, an autumnal singles weekend retreat and their Manchester launch event at GRUB will be a Sip & Paint evening.

Created by local artist, Libby Ayres, “Sip & Paint” nights are a fun way to learn to paint in a relaxed, fun and sociable environment.

Libby uses her synaesthesia to experience colours as she listens to music, and the singles-only edition designed BODA won’t be much different.

During this unique session, she will guide guests through her processes and techniques for using acrylic paints to create a beautiful canvas for guests to take home. All abilities are welcome.

As with any of the BODA events, the event will be full of singles-only.

“BODA has a strict singles-only policy,” says Jess, “so you can look forward to being in the room with potentially new gal/guy pals, community and maybe even romance!”

In a nutshell, this is an event where whether you meet someone or not, the activities are so varied and fun, and the people are so welcoming and genuine that you will have a good night, no matter what happens.

Tickets are £35 and include a complimentary drink, all necessary art equipment, your artwork to take home and of course a wonderful social evening with BODA.
