This delightful pantomime is a fantastic choice for families, offering a perfect mix of child-friendly comedy with enough wit to entertain adults as well.

The show is fast-paced and full of laughter, with the cast bringing a fresh spin on the classic fairytale that keeps the audience, especially children, engaged.

Even the Mayor of Bolton was seen enjoying the show, laughing along with the crowd.

The humour is cleverly layered, with many crude jokes slipping past the children while being noticed by the adults were where the loudest laughs came from.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a pantomime without them breaking the fourth wall and one area in which they do so is when Dame Betty Bouffant, played by Ian Parkin, hilariously targets a member of the audience for questioning and gives them a shoutout later on in the show.

Ian Parkin as Betty

You’ll go through a whirlwind of emotions from the outrageous costumes worn by Ian Parkin as Betty, because they gradually become more ridiculous than the last.

Parkin will you entertained with his energetic performance which provide plenty of laughs, leaving the crowd in stitches.

If you’re hungry, get ready to catch some flying food as one of the scenes the characters throw some into the audience and it gets all the children on their feet.

Vicky Entwistle as Mother Gothel

The talented cast delivers memorable performances throughout. Vicky Entwistle (who previously starred in Coronation Street) plays the villainous Mother Gothel, using her eerie voice and witch-like presence to draw boos from the audience.

Abi Ellis-Walter’s rendition of Princess Rapunzel brings the character to life with a sweet aura. I’m particularly impressed by her effortless vocals as she sings harmoniously throughout her scenes. I notice her to have many admirers especially children in the audience when she speaks.

Kivan Dean plays King Bumble, with his silly voice and the dialogue being a little cheeky.

Rollo plays Loopy Louis, who plays the brilliantly dopey son of Betty. He is more interactive with the audience, every so often breaks the fourth wall in a humorous fashion.

At the end, Loopy Louis invites the children on stage for a song and dance, truly brought the children to life with his antics, creating a memorable experience for kids.

One of the highlights from the show is the playful tongue twister scene, where Loopy Louis goes back and forth between Mother Gothel and Betty Bouffant, which had the audience laughing uncontrollably.

Overall, Rapunzel is hilariously entertaining and offers something for everyone – a perfect way to spend an evening out with family.
