Put the Fizz into Valentine’s Day at Annies

Have your date on a plate this V Day at Annies, the eatery owned by Corrie star Jennie McAlpine.

Romance is definitely on the menu at the chintzy restaurant and one of our favourites, just off St Ann’s Square – but let’s hope romance goes more smoothly for diners than Jennie’s on-screen character’s Fizz’s lovelife!

“…a harpist playing live to create a nice intimate atmosphere…”

Jennie told I Love Manchester: “It’s going to be a lovely romantic evening here at Annies. We’ve got a harpist playing live to create a nice intimate atmosphere and the menu is sensational!”

A delicious set menu is available at £45 per head, including along a glass of pink fizz and includes aphrodisiacs such as fresh oysters or seared scallops for starters.

Annies 3 Cheese Onion Pie

Mains include course chicken supreme, served with ‘Juliet’ carrots and ‘Romeo’ fondant potatoes (see what they’ve done there), pan fried calves livers or Cupid’s Pinwheel – a unique dish of roasted seasonal vegetables and goat’s cheese encased in puffpastry.

The piece de resistance is the Lover’s Dessert; fresh strawberries with a mint dipping sauce, raspberry tart and white chocolate mousse topped with passion fruit jelly.

Said Jennie: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s our first Valentine’s Day at Annies so it will be really special. It’ll be lovely to spend the evening with Chris in our own place!”
