There are lots of different classes to try, no matter what your experience or fitness level.

And the foundation pole dancing/pole fitness courses really are for complete beginners – you don’t need to have any experience to take part.

Pole classes typically start with warm-ups, where you should expect to do some running, lunges, twisting, and stretching. You’ll also perform strengthening exercises like side crunches, pull-ups, and leg raises.

Once you have learned basic spins, climbing and headstands, you will be introduced to more difficult moves in one of their beginners/improvers classes.

There’s also a men’s pole fitness class, where you will learn a new skill and find a new addiction whilst getting your body fit and strong, as well as plus size classes to exercise and improve your wellbeing in a friendly, motivational and supportive environment.

The plus size classes are taught by Nadia Traynor, a plus size poler and aerialist, and have been specially designed for everyone with a fuller figure and/or de-conditioned or returning to exercise.

Learn how to fly

If you don’t fancy pole, GFFDamian Dance studio also offers a variety of aerial classes.

Aerial dance and fitness is still a relatively unknown artform, where you can challenge yourself and learn how to fly using aerial hoops, straps and silks.

Beginner classes are a great introduction to aerial arts, focusing on upper body and core strength as well as leg and shoulder flexibility.

These classes focus on the fundamental moves and the aerial vocabulary that is necessary to progress into wider aerial skill sets.

Beginners will learn various ways to get onto the lyra and work within the circle, more experienced students will begin to work above the lyra and in the ropes.

There are also classes for more experienced dancers, as well as aerial silks and straps classes.

A different approach

The testimonials from happy customers speak for themselves.

I never imagined that I could do pole fitness and that I would enjoy it so much,” said Maciej Seliga.

“Before I joined GFF I would go to the gym and do classes but you’re just on your own and there’s nobody motivating you.

“At GFF I felt a totally different approach. Damian is so patient and helpful with newbies. Nobody judges you by the way you look, body shape or age.

“Since the first lesson I feel the different muscles start to work and not only do I feel stronger but my confidence is higher thanks to the people.

“I would recommend GFF to anyone. It’s a great atmosphere and there’s always someone to help you.”

Find GFFDamian Dance studio at Parkers Hotel, 109-113 Corporation St, M4 4DX. All foundation courses run over five weeks and each class lasts for 55 minutes. New courses start every six weeks.
