In a tale of triumph over adversity, Amy Parkinson, a survivor of a life-changing car accident, is set to host a charity gala honouring the heroes of the National Health Service (NHS).

After enduring a harrowing journey of recovery, Amy’s heartwarming initiative aims to give back to the Salford Royal Hospital, where she received exceptional care, and to celebrate the selflessness of the NHS staff who played a vital role in her healing process.

Manchester United Legends Charity Event

The event, set to take place on Friday, 15th September 2023, promises to be an unforgettable night of sports legends, entertainment, and giving back to the community.

And it’s all for an amazing cause close to her heart, too.

The journey leading up to this remarkable charity event began on a fateful day in April 2022 when Amy was involved in a life-altering car accident in Manchester.

The crash left her with severe injuries, including 10 injuries, including brain injuries.

Speaking to I Love Manchester, Amy said: “Unfortunately I came out of the crash with life-changing injuries and had a cage on my leg for ten months and I had to learn how to walk again.

“I’ve also got a plate in my pelvis, not what you want when you’ve just turned 40 and it’s changed your life forever.

“Up to this point, I’ve had three major operations on the NHS, which I think totalled about 150k and ongoing physio, OT and rehab by Salford Royal Hospital.

“I can’t put into words how lucky I feel. So this night is all for the NHS.

“All the surgeons, the four surgeons who worked on me are invited, plus my nurses and physios too I can’t wait to see them.

“We’re putting on two free tables for the staff, because they are amazing.”

Salford Royal Hospital

Amy is a huge united fan

Enduring two months in the major trauma unit at Salford Royal Hospital and undergoing three operations, Amy’s journey to recovery has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Amy said the support of Manchester United Football club  and the Foundation was amazing, with the staff and former players even visiting her while she was in hospital. They brought her an autograph personally signed by Christiano Ronaldo, which was very special.

Undeterred by the challenges she faced, Amy is now spearheading the Manchester United Legends Dinner as a token of appreciation to the hospital that played a pivotal role in her recovery and saved her life.

Helping Hands Charity

She also aims to support Helping Hands Charity, who provided her with a wheelchair upon her hospital discharge.

The Legends Dinner boasts an impressive lineup of activities to delight attendees and raise funds for the noble cause.

The charity gala, set to take place at Gary Neville’s renowned Hotel Football, promises to be a night of glitz and glamour.

The Manchester United legend has generously offered the venue free of charge for this special occasion.

The event will be an ode to the NHS and its tireless staff, highlighting their selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to patient care.

Guests will have the opportunity to engage in a captivating Q&A session with three Manchester United Legends, including Sammy Mcllroy, with more iconic figures expected to join the panel.

The event will take place at the magnificent Hotel Football, ideally located opposite the legendary Old Trafford stadium.

The stunning Stadium Suite will play host to the event, offering breathtaking views of the iconic sporting venue.

Among the highlights of the evening is a live auction featuring a host of incredible prizes generously donated by supporters.
