Much-loved Manchester Chop Houses offer 50% off food throughout January

One of our favourite things about January is the opportunity it offers to try something new. And no, we’re not talking about a new gym or fitness class – we’re referring to all the great restaurant offers and deals that circulate at this time of year.

Many in the industry bemoan the now-ubiquitous January dining deal trend that sweeps over Manchester every year. But for diners, it presents a great opportunity to try out a new restaurant for a fraction of the usual price.

The Manchester Chop Houses – comprised of Albert’s, Sam’s and Tom’s respectively – are much celebrated in the city for serving up traditional British food with flair.

Home to one of the best chippy teas in the city, as well as the famous corned beef hash (formed from a secret house recipe which takes their chefs 10 days to make, no less) – if you love yourself a spot of classic English grub this is the place to go.

When it comes to quality, executive chef Lee Ferguson doesn’t mess about. The menus are chock-a-block with thoughtfully-sourced ingredients, from Johnson & Swarbrick’s corn-fed Goosnargh chicken to rope-grown Scottish mussels from the clear, clean and wild waters around the Shetland Islands – and you can taste the difference.

Both are available on the January offer accompanied by the Chop House’s signature triple-cooked chips, alongside other house favourites such as their steamed steak and ale suet pudding and a pale ale braised heritage ox cheek dish that comes served with creamy mash, baby onions, smoked bacon, button mushrooms and a rich, flavoursome cooking liquor.

And for vegetarians there’s the homity pie, which comes open-faced and topped with goat’s cheese, under which hides layers of Jerusalem artichoke, heritage potato, wild mushroom, onions and leeks underneath; or Albert’s speltotto, beefed up with plenty of roast butternut squash, roasted hazelnuts and a squash purée.

It’s running every day at all three sites right through to the end of the month, with the exception of Saturday nights from 6pm. You can view the full January menu here.

One of our favourite restaurants of 2018, if you’ve only got time to try one deal this month you won’t be disappointed at the Chop Houses.
