It’s time to dust off the lederhosen and practise your oompahs because this year’s Manchester Oktoberfest is coming to town from 21st to 25th October.
The legendary German beer festival returns to Manchester this week for five days of fun, replete with amazing beer, great food, lederhosen, and schlager music.
The main Oktoberfest event will be taking place in a tent with space for 2,000 people on First Street in the city centre where visitors can savour a range of Bavarian delicacies such as bratwurst, sauerkraut (pickled cabbage) and frikadeller (mincemeat dumplings) and, of course, gallons of limited edition lager served by waiters dressed in traditional German costumes. Entrance is free on Wednesday. On Thursday, Friday and Sunday it’s £5 and on Saturday there will be a £10 entrance fee.
The official after party will be held at the Bierkeller Entertainment Complex in The Printworks where, in true Bavarian spirit, there will be a host of themed events, food and drink promotions, and offers across all four of its venues – Ski Lodge, Shooters Sports Bar, Around The World In 80 Beers and Bierkeller, encouraging Mancunians to don their best breeches and embrace the bratwursts for a night out like no other.
Beer fans can enjoy live performances from the in-house oompah band on Friday and Saturday, bringing real, authentic cheer to the Bavarian festival. Customers can receive 25% off the first round of drinks at Bierkeller by simply presenting an Oktoberfest ticket at the bar.
Oktoberfest is a 16-day party running from late September to the first weekend in October which started in Munich 200 years ago to celebrate the gathering of the harvest.
