A new campaign from Manchester’s Missguided fashion house is aiming to redefine “nude” – by using a diverse range of women proudly modelling the new range.
Manchester fashion and lifestyle influencer Faye Mills, and Mancunian models Payal Mistry and Sasha Tesoro take starring roles in the new campaign, which showcases Missguided’s new shapewear brand, Skin Tones.
The shapewear will be available in a wide range of skin tones – and modelled by diverse, empowering and inclusive models in partnership with the charity, Models of Diversity.
Missguided founder Nitin Passi said: “Empowerment is at the heart of what we stand for and while we’re proud of that, it has to be for everyone.
“This campaign powerfully says who we are and also shows what we aspire to be, not only opening a window into the breadth of what we offer but also now better covering the skin tones that match the diversity of our customers.”
Faye, writing on her Instagram page to share the campaign, said: “Proud to be part of this, celebrating how we are all unique and beautiful in our own ways and that we should embrace it!!
“This means so much to me because growing up I wish I had more bad ass role models like the ones involved in this campaign.
“It was the most amazing day shooting and being a part of this.”
Manchester model Sasha Tesoro who is represented by the city’s J’Adore agency, said: “I still can’t believe that modelling has been my job for the past 8 years- I’ve been extremely grateful for this journey and to witness the industry grow with diversity.
“Though more is yet to be done, I’m feeling super humbled and honoured to be a part of the New Nudes Collection campaign as it sends out an important message to the fashion industry, a step into the right direction into self acceptance- with their wide variety of “nudes” to suit every skin tone, size.. and story.”
Missguided is one of the fastest-growing women’s online retailers in the world and recently featured in primetime documentary Inside Missguided.
Founded in 2009 in Manchester by Nitin Passi, it has become a leading fashion retailer with a signature confident style and broad product range now selling to over 180 countries.
Missguided worked with the Models for Diversity agency which is a registered charity to represent women from all backgrounds in the campaign.
Agency founder Angel Sinclair said: “Many brands talk about change, few follow through! Misguided absolutely blew us away with their commitment to inclusion and diversity in this campaign.
“We were delighted that amongst their gorgeous and diverse cast they included 7 very beautiful but very different models from MOD – the results are amazing. It is a pleasure to be associated with a brand so determined to be on the right side of change”.
