As the world focuses on COP28 in Dubai, Manchester is gearing up for an alternative event that champions local action and community engagement.

The Congress of the People Planet Pints (COPPP) is set to take place on Thursday, December 7, at 6 pm, offering a unique platform for individuals and businesses to connect, share ideas, and celebrate sustainability.

Empowering Local Action and Challenging the Status Quo

COPPP, hosted by local business betternotstop and The Better Business Network, is more than just an alternative to COP28; it’s a nationwide initiative encouraging people to take tangible action in their local communities.

The event aims to challenge businesses and individuals to question the effectiveness of global conferences and focus on the impact they can make at the grassroots level.

Networking for Change

The Manchester COPPP event, to be held at Sandbar, 120 Grosvenor Street, Manchester M1 7HL, promises an evening of networking, idea-sharing, and inspiration.

Attendees will have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, fostering a sense of community around sustainability.

Free Drinks for Early Birds

The first 33 individuals to arrive at the event will receive a complimentary drink, so what are you waiting for?

The initiative aims to break down barriers and make sustainability discussions accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of expertise.

A Nationwide Movement: COPPP Spreads Across the UK

COPPP isn’t confined to Manchester alone; it’s a nationwide movement with free-ticket events happening simultaneously across various towns and cities, including Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow, Chester, Chipping Norton, Farnham, Leeds, and many more.

With over 10,000 people attending more than 450 events, COPPP is proving to be a powerful force for change.

Real Action, Real Impact

Hannah Cox, Founder of betternotstop, emphasises the need for immediate action, stating, “We can’t wait around for governments, climate action has to happen now.

“COPPP provides local businesses with the opportunity to meet other local companies taking real action.”

Creating Conversations

Adam Bastock, the founder of Small99 and brainchild behind People, Planet, Pint, envisions COPPP as a platform for broad conversations across communities.

He said: “COPPP is about starting broad conversations across all parts of the community, not just for sustainability experts, but anyone who is concerned or curious.

“There is no agenda, workshops or webinars at our events. It’s simply a chat over some drinks where you can meet others and hear about the work that is happening locally.”

Unlike traditional conferences, COPPP events don’t feature workshops or webinars; instead, they offer a relaxed space for individuals to connect and learn about local sustainability efforts.
