Get ready, Manchester! The city’s legendary Christmas Markets are just around the corner, opening on November 8th.

But the excitement isn’t just about mulled wine and holiday cheer this year – it’s all about the mugs.

That’s right – the much-anticipated 2024 edition of Manchester’s collectable Christmas mugs is here, and these beauties are bound to be on every Mancunian’s wish list.

Christmas

Created by the talented in-house team at Manchester City Council, this year’s mugs continue last year’s Nordic-inspired theme but with a charming twist: a whimsical family of Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, and their merry crew of elves, each brimming with holiday cheer.

For anyone who missed out last year, you’re not alone! In 2023, the Nutcracker-themed mugs practically vanished as quickly as they arrived, leaving shoppers scrambling to get their hands on any leftover editions.

Even after market organisers stocked up, every single mug was snatched up in record time.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you: these collectable treasures are expected to fly off the shelves once again, and they’re available only while supplies last.

How to buy Manchester Christmas mugs

Christmas

Starting November 8th, you can get your hands on these charming mugs at every market location across the city centre.

The mugs are either available for purchase outright or for a £3.50 deposit with any hot drink – just take your pick!

If you want to keep it, simply hang onto it as a festive souvenir to bring out every Christmas season.

“Manchester’s Christmas mugs have become a must-have for locals and visitors alike. Each year, we reveal a new, unique design that people simply can’t resist,” said Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester City Council’s Christmas spokesperson.

“These festive mugs are all over social media every holiday season, and they’ve become part of the city’s Christmas magic. Don’t wait too long to get yours – last year’s flew off the shelves faster than Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve!”

Manchester Christmas magic

Manchester’s Christmas Markets offer more than collectable mugs, of course. With over a hundred stalls for festive shopping, irresistible seasonal treats, and cosy drinks, this year’s markets promise to be bigger and better than ever.

Visit the Ice Rink in Cathedral Gardens, open from November 8 until New Year’s Day, or catch a glimpse of Father Christmas himself at St. Peter’s Square from November 12th.

Circle December 8th on your calendar for the magical Manchester Christmas Parade – it’s an event you won’t want to miss.

And don’t forget, craft stalls are open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while bars and food stalls keep the festive vibes going from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Manchester, it’s time to raise a mug to the 2024 holiday season!

Make sure you grab yours before they’re gone, and prepare for a holiday experience like no other in the heart of the city. Let’s make this Christmas in Manchester one for the memory books!
